Everyday, we come in contact of millions of bacteria and germs which can make us sick and surprisingly these disease causing enties are invisible to naked eyes. So, it is very important to protect our body. For this purpose, our body has its own defence mechanism which protects us from these bacteria.

So, the question arise,  Which is the defense mechanism in our body. Many of you know the correct answer. It's Immune System

Now, let's understand about of Immune System.

The complex bodily system which gives us protection from foreign disease causing substances is termed as Immune System. White blood cells, antibodies, complement system, lymphatic system, spleen, bone marrow, thymus are the important parts of Immune System.

Sometimes our Immune System protects us from disease, but due to its weak strength, germ invades successfully and makes us sick.

So, our immune system should be strong enough to fight against.

I will try to be as simple as possible to explain you my viewpoints.

1.Have a Healthy Diet:-

Diet has a major role in our fitness and health so, it is suggested that you should have diet which has high nutritional values.

Try to consume Vitamin-C and Vitamin-E rich fruits and veggies. These helps our Immune System in a positive way.

You should include apples, berries, kiwi, citrus fruits, onions, spinach, and carrots in your diet.

Excess consumption of Sugar, Saturated fats and low-fiber foods affects our Immune System. These food items leads to inflammation in our body and can cause several health problems.

Mixed fruit juice and mixed vegetable juice with bitter gourd helps us to boost immunity. Shell fish and vegetables contains Zinc and Chromium which helps to improve Immunity.

Green leafy vegetables, nuts, whole grains, sprouts and curd-based dairy products are essential to keep the immune system strong.

2. Control your Stress:-

Some stress hormones increases the chance of illness. So, you should try to decrease the level of stress hormones which will protect you against illness. 

The most better way to do this is Regular Exercise. Exercise helps to decrease the rate of  the release of stress hormones.

When our stress level increases, the immune system’s ability to fight off antigens (foreign particles) is reduced. This makes us more susceptible to infections

Corticosteroid is the stress hormone which can lower the number of lymphocytes and can suppress the Immune System.

Stress increases the heart rate and affects the circulatory system. It can have a negative impact on Immune System by raising blood pressure.

To reduce stress, some people try unhealthy way such as drinking and smoking. This indirectly affects the Immune System.

3. Get Plenty of Sleep:-

After reading this you will get another reason to get plenty of sleep.

Sleep makes us relaxed and fresh and poor sleep can have both short-term and long-term effects on health.

Cytokines is a type of protein which targets infection and inflammation and creates an immune response. These protein is produced and released during sleep. 

With insufficient sleep, your body will make fewer cytokines thereby affecting Immune System.

It is suggested that one should have at least 7 to 8 hours of good quality sleep per day in order to stay healthy.

Lack of sleep makes you more susceptible to viruses and bacteria.

4. Say NO to Alcohol:-

Alcohol affects our body in different ways. It can damage liver, cardiovascular system and digestive system.

You may be less aware that alcohol also have a negative effect on your immune system.

It disturbs our gut’s microbiome, thereby altering the balance of healthy and unhealthy bacteria. It also disrupts the gut barrier, allowing more bacteria to pass into the blood which makes our Immune System week.

Excessive drinking affects the number and function of three important types of cells in your immune system which are popularly known as Macrophages, T-cells and C-cells.

Green tea is one of the most affordable beverage that everyone can have a cup of it. Many people think that it helps them to stay awake during office and work time, but it also has its role in improving Immune System.

Green Teas are rich in anti-oxidants which are known as Polyphenols. Polyphenols acts as a infection fighters. They protect our body against infection and viruses. 

Chamomile green tea promotes the growth of White Blood Cells thus helping our Immune System.

It has some other benefits such as fat burning and increasing insulin sensitivity.

10. Stay safe:-

Another way to stay healthy is to stay safe. Keep the surrounding clean and try to be hygienic by bathing every day and washing hands at regular intervals. This can control the developments of virus and bacteria.

Eat fresh food and refrigerate leftover food and reheat it before eating and drink clean water.
